Children's books hold a piece of my heart. They are a beautifully accessible way for readers of all ages to be inspired. There are millions of children's books in the world and just a small percentage receive wide recognition. Searching for just the right book can be daunting, but I relish the hunt. In 2019, my son, Rylan, and I published a book about living in his brain with autism and Tourette's. "If I Squeeze Your Head I'm Sorry" is a delightful and insightful blend of his words and art as they relate to his everyday experiences in the world. This book was invaluable therapy for both Rylan and me, and allowed so many people to understand him more clearly. It also opened doors for other neurodivergent readers to feel understood.
